ADAMA® Entertainment is thrilled to present the world premiere of a bold, new musical adaptation of James Leo Herlihy’s seminal novel, Midnight Cowboy.

This captivating production brings to life the raw emotions and gritty realities of two misfits navigating the streets of New York City.

From its literary roots to the iconic Academy Award-winning film, Midnight Cowboy has long been celebrated for its unflinching exploration of friendship, dreams, and survival. Now, this groundbreaking adaptation breathes new life into the timeless story of Joe Buck and Ratso Rizzo.

In 1994, the movie adaptation of Midnight Cowboy earned a coveted spot in the United States National Film Registry, immortalising the gripping, unexpected bond between two hustlers: the innocent Joe Buck (played by Jon Voight) and the streetwise, ailing conman "Ratso" Rizzo (portrayed by Dustin Hoffman).

The film swept the 42nd Academy Awards, winning Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, and ranked 36th on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 greatest American films.

This seductive new production, featuring an original book by Bryony Lavery (Frozen) and music by the three-time Ivor Novello Award-winning composer Francis "Eg" White (Chasing Pavements), will make its debut at the main space of the Elephant at Southwark Playhouse in March 2025.
